Plenary Speaker:
Charles van der Horst, MD

Dr. van der Horst is currently a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine, the Associate Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and the Developmental Core Director at the UNC Center for AIDS Research.  He received his B.A. in History from Duke University in 1974, and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1979.  Dr. van der Horst’s research interests include the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, and he is an expert on HIV in Africa and the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
